Director of Business Development


The Director of Business Development will identify, secure and retain business through professional, consultative sales efforts targeted to decision makers across existing and new life science customers. They will establish and manage client relationships to enable new growth opportunities and expansion across existing accounts, within the in-vitro diagnostic (IVD), medical device and pharmaceutical industries.

The Director of Business Development at Beaufort holds the following responsibilities:

  • Identify new business opportunities within diagnostics, medical device, and pharmaceutical companies.
  • Meet sales growth targets.
  • Foster and maintain positive, productive client relationships
  • Actively network in the industry to develop and deepen relationships and understand the competitive landscape.
  • Collaborate in development and delivery of complex proposals.
  • Engage with Senior Management and operational team to manage client accounts.
  • Maintain sales pipeline and client records in Salesforce.
  • Travel on occasion to client locations and trade shows for meetings and industry events.


Due to the key nature of this position, we are seeking the following experience/education:

  • 5+ years of corporate business development experience
  • Successful track record of driving growth and achieving business results.
  • Consultative sales experience with executive level contacts and thought leaders.
  • History of closing complex sales opportunities.
  • Undergraduate degree in business, marketing, or related field.


While the above are the standard requirements, the following attributes are highly valued:

  • Advanced degree (M.S., M.B.A.) preferred.
  • Experience selling services to pharmaceutical, diagnostics, medical device companies, or CROs.
  • Prior medical device/life sciences or CRO experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of sales pipeline management in Salesforce.


This position reports to Beaufort’s President.
